Chennai Super Kings won CLT20 Final match by eight wickets. This was between Chennai Super Kings and Warriors at Johannesburg. In the tournament, Chennai Super Kings provides its fifth victory. That’s why Chennai Super Kings became the fifth team in the tournament and other teams are NSW, Tri & Tob and Victoria.

In this game, with figures of 4.0-0-16-3 M Muralitharan returned and providing the 46th occasion of a bowler capturing three or more wickets in the tournament. His bowling figures are one of the 17 occasions of a bowler and became the third CSK bowler to capture three or more wickets conceding 20 and less than 20 runs. Others bowler like 3 for 20 by L Balaji vs Central Districts at Durban on 11/09/10 and 4 for 23 by R Ashwin vs Wayamba at Centurion on 15/09/10.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing very well that there could only be one passenger in your car?

This is a moral/ethical dilem ma that was once ac tually used as part of a job application.

* You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first;

The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants) had no trouble coming up with his answer. Guess what was his answer?

He simply answered:

"I would give the car keys to my Old friend and let him take the lady to the hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the partner of my dreams."

Corruption in Common wealth games

Common wealth games are very close-by. Its one of the biggest event to be happen in a developing country like India. The whole world is watching keenly how well India is going to host this International event. But now our own people have made us feel so ashamed after media brought few things into limelight.

First, Corruption in Common wealth was made as a hot topic. So Kalmadi stated that there was no corruption and everything was going on very perfectly.He and his team were working hard on it.

Since this issue turned up to be big and he left he himself might have to resign, he made a member in his committee to resign.

Second,an issue started that the money was not sufficient to host the games. So they might need an 100 more crores for this for completing the pending work.

Third, even at the peak time of only one month remaining, no stadiums was up to the mark. Many were under construction. Many stadiums were waterlogged. When media questioned Kalmadi he said everything will be fine when the event begins.

Fouth, the major insult came when four international teams declared that Common Village as unlivable. What else is left to make Indians feel ashamed of ?

Added to this the over bridge near Jawaharlal Nehru Statidum collapsed injuring many which added masala to all the happenings.

Only now the Indian government has considered this to be a serious issue and have held up some meetings to discuss the progress and other pending work.

Its now too late to react. If Indian government had a overlook on these , things would have not gone so worst.

Now the whole world knows India is not fit to handle something like this.

Because of few corrupted Indians, all of us now embrassed before the whole world.

India glittering start at Common Wealth Games Opening Cermony

After all the hitches and news on India being unfit to host a huge event like Common wealth 2010, India has proved its metal.

This inaguration cermony was held at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, Delhi on 3rd of Oct (Sunday) and and Prince Charles and his wife were the chief guest of this great event.

The entire stadium was jam packed with around 60,000 people in it. Programs like yoga, Indian railways which depict the common man's life in India , displaying of different form of dance and last but not the least A.R Rehaman's song made the cermony very interesting.

India has made the whole world to turn back and have a look at the cultural and traditional values of Indian people.

Being a developing country, India has given a blazing start for the common wealth games. Hats off to all who have worked so hard to make this event turn out something great. Really proud to be an Indian.

Science on life after death

In 1991, Atlanta, Ga. resident Pam Reynolds had a near-death experience (NDE). Reynolds underwent surgery for a brain aneurysm, and the procedure required doctors to drain all the blood from her brain. Reynolds was kept literally brain-dead by the surgical team for a full 45 minutes. Despite being clinically dead, when Reynolds was resuscitated, she described some amazing things. She recounted experiences she had while dead -- like interacting with deceased relatives. Even more amazing is that Reynolds was able to describe aspects of the surgical procedure, down to the bone saw that was used to remove part of her skull.

What's remarkable (although not unique) about Reynolds' experience is that it is the combination of an NDE and an out-of-body-experience (OBE).Science, too, has made its own headway toward explaining these weird phenomena. Two studies on the separate aspects of Reynolds' experience were conducted in 2007. Each seems to explain how a person can have an OBE or a NDE, but do they hold up in explaining experiences like Reynolds'?

As many as 18 percent of people brought back from death after a heart attack said they'd had a NDE . While many religious adherents might not be surprised by these accounts, the idea that human consciousness and the body exist distinctly from each other flies in the face of science. A brain-dead person should not be able to form new memories -- he shouldn't have any consciousness at all, really.

A study from the University of Kentucky has quickly gained ground among scientists as possibly the best explanation for NDEs. Researchers there theorize that the mysterious phenomenon is really an instance of the sleep disorder rapid eye movement (REM) intrusion. In this disorder, a person's mind can wake up before his body, and hallucinations and the feeling of being physically detached from his body can occur.

The Kentucky researchers believe that NDEs are actually REM intrusions triggered in the brain by traumatic events like cardiac arrest. If this is true, then this means the experiences of some people following near-death are confusion from suddenly and unexpectedly entering a dream-like state.

This theory helps explain what has always been a tantalizing aspect of the mystery of NDEs: how people can experience sights and sounds after confirmed brain death. The area where REM intrusion is triggered is found in the brain stem -- the region that controls the most basic functions of the body -- and it can operate virtually independent from the higher brain. So even after the higher regions of the brain are dead, the brain stem can conceivably continue to function, and REM intrusion could still occur [source: BBC].

          Good Evening.. Let me narrate you a short and cute story about relationship...

"Understanding is the base of any relationship, be it a husband-wife or parent-child or siblings or friendship! "Don't put the key to your happiness in someone else's pocket - keep it in your own."

Let me start off with the story "Burnt Biscuits"...

When I was a kid, my mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every now and then. And I remember one night in particular when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work. On that evening so long ago, my mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage and extremely burned biscuits in front of my dad.

      I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed! Yet all my dad did was reach for his biscuit, smile at my mom and ask me how my day was at school. I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember watching him smear butter and jelly on that biscuit and eat every bite!

      When I got up from the table that evening, I remember hearing my mom apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits. And I'll never forget what he said: "Honey, I love burned biscuits."

        Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and I asked him if he really liked his biscuits burned. He wrapped me in his arms and said, "Your Momma put in a hard day at work today and she's real tired. And besides - a little burnt biscuit never hurt anyone!"

        Life is full of imperfect things.....and imperfect people. I'm not the best at hardly anything, and I forget birthdays and anniversaries just like everyone else.

But what I've learned over the years is that learning to accept each others faults - and choosing to celebrate each others differences - is one of the most important keys to creating a healthy, growing, and lasting relationship.

Can you imagine how all this operates?  

How do they lock each  car in its cubicle for safety?
WHO CARES?
NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND COULD GET IN IT HERE.
(But believe me, the Germans WILL LOCK THAT CAR!)

Talk about German efficiency!  The two photos above were taken at a new parking garage in  Munich .  The actual space that the facility occupies is approximately only 20% of a comparable facility with the traditional design that is used primarily in the  US .

 Not only is the German structure less expensive to build, but vehicles are also 'retrieved' in less time and without the potential of being damaged by an attendant

A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She reduced altitude and spotted a man below. She descended a bit more and shouted, "Excuse me Sir, can you help me? I promised a friend, I would meet him an hour ago but I don't know where I am."

The man below replied, "You're in a hot air balloon hovering approximately 30 feet above the ground. You're between 40 and 41 degrees north latitude and between 59 and 60 degrees west longitude."

''You must be an engineer," said the lady balloonist.

"I am", replied the man. 'How did you know?'

''Well", answered the lady in the balloon, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and the fact is I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me at all. If anything, you've delayed my trip even more."

The engineer below responded, "You must be in Top Management."

''I am", replied the lady balloonist, "but, how did you know?''

"Well," said the Engineer, "You don't know where you are, or where you're going. You made a promise, which you've no idea how to keep, and you expect people beneath you, to solve your problems."

             This is an EXCELLENT STORY.. WORTH READING.. I WAS REALLY AMAZED BY THIS STORY..

         Every Friday afternoon, after the Juma prayers, the Imam and his eleven year old son would go out into their town and hand out "PATH TO PARADISE" and other Islamic literature.
This particular and fortunate Friday afternoon, as the time came for the Imam and his son to go to the streets with their booklets, it was very cold outside, as well as pouring rain.
The boy bundled up in his warmest and driest clothes and said, 'OK, dad, I'm ready!'

        His dad asked, 'Ready for what' 'Dad, it's time we go out and distribute these Islamic books.' Dad responds, 'Son, it's very cold outside and it's pouring rain.'
The boy gives his dad a surprised look, asking, 'But Dad, aren't people still going to hell, even though it's raining?'

      Dad answers, 'Son, I am not going out in this weather.' Despondently, the boy asks, 'Dad, can I go Please' His father hesitated for a moment then said, 'Son, you can go. Here are the booklets. Be careful son.'
'Thanks, Dad!'

And with that, he was off and out into the rain. This eleven year old boy walked the streets of the town going door to door and handing everybody he met in the street a pamphlet or a booklet.

After two hours of walking in the rain, he was soaking, bone-chilled wet and down to his VERY LAST BOOKLET.He stopped on a corner and looked for someone to hand a booklet to, but the streets were totally deserted.

Then he turned toward the first home he saw and started up the Side walk to the front door and rang the door bell. He rang the bell, but nobody answered..He rang it again and again, but still no one answered. He waited but still no answer.

Finally, he turned to leave, but something stopped him. Again, he turned to the door and rang the bell and knocked loudly on the door with his fist. He waited, something holding him there on the front porch!

He rang again and this time the door slowly opened. Standing in the doorway was a very sad-looking elderly lady. She softly asked, 'What can I do for you, son?' With radiant eyes and a smile that lit up her world, this little boy said, 'Ma'am, I'm sorry if I disturbed you, but I just want to tell you that ALLAH REALLY LOVES AND CARES FOR YOU and I came to give you my very last booklet which will tell you all about God, the real purpose of creation, and how to achieve His pleasure.' With that, he handed her his last booklet and turned to leave. She called to him as he departed. 'Thank you, son! And God Bless You!'

Next week on Friday afternoon after Juma prayers, the Imam was giving some lectures. As he concludes the lectures, he asked, 'Does anybody have questions or want to say anything?' Slowly, in the back row among the ladies, an elderly lady's voice was heard over the speaker.

'No one in this gathering knows me. I've never been here before. You see, before last Friday I was not a Muslim, and thought I could be.

My husband died few years ago, leaving me totally alone in this world.. Last Friday, being a particularly cold and rainy day, I was contemplating suicide as I had no hope left.

So I took a rope and a chair and ascended the stairway into the attic of my home.. I fastened the rope securely to a rafter in the roof then stood on the chair and fastened the other end of the rope around my neck. Standing on that chair, so lonely and broken- hearted. I was about to leap off, when suddenly the loud ringing of my doorbell downstairs startled me.

I thought, I'll wait a minute, and whoever it is will go away.

I waited and waited, but the ringing doorbell seemed to get louder and more insistent, and then the person ringing also started knocking loudly....

I thought to myself again, 'Who on earth could this be?

Nobody ever rings my bell or comes to see me.' I loosened the rope from my neck and started for the front door, all the while the bell rang louder and louder.

When I opened the door and looked I could hardly believe my eyes, for there on my front porch was the most radiant and angelic little boy I had ever seen in my life. His SMILE, oh, I could never describe it to you! The words that came from his mouth caused my heart that had long been dead TO LEAP TO LIFE as he exclaimed with a cherub-like voice, 'Ma'am, I just came to tell you that:

ALLAH REALLY LOVES AND CARES FOR YOU!'

Then he gave me this booklet, Path To Paradise that I now hold in my hand.

As the little angel disappeared back out into the cold and rain, I closed my door and read slowly every word of this book.

Then I went up to my attic to get my rope and chair.

I wouldn't be needing them anymore.You see? I am now a Happy Vicegerent of the One True God.

Since the address of your congregation was stamped on the back of this booklet, I have come here to personally say THANK YOU to God's little angel who came just in the nick of time and by so doing, spared my soul from an eternity in hell.'

There was not a dry eye in the mosque.

The shouts of TAKBIR.. ALLAH AKBAR.. rented the air.

Imam-Dad descended from the pulpit to the front row where the little angel was seated....

He took his son in his arms and sobbed uncontrollably.

Probably no jama'at has had a more glorious moment, and probably this universe has never seen a father that was more filled with love and honor for his son...

Remember, God's message CAN make the difference in the life of someone close to you.

       Many of us have Common sense. We must have heard people saying "Don't you have common sense"?? What this actually mean??? Here is a short story to explain that in detail..

          There came a big flood, and the water around Bhola's house was rising steadily..

        Bhola was standing on the porch, watching water rising all around him, when a man in a boat came along and called to Bhola, "Get in the boat and I'll get you out of here. Bhola replied, "No thanks, God will save me."

       Bhola went into the house, and the water was starting to pour in. So, he went up to the second floor.

       As he looked out, another man in a boat came along, and he called to Bhola, "Get in the boat and I'll get you out of here."

      Again, Bhola replied, "No thanks. God will save me."

       The water kept rising. So, Bhola got out onto the roof.

        A helicopter flew over, and the pilot called down to Bhola, "I'll drop you a rope,grab onto it, and I'll get you out of here."

       Again Bhola replied, "No thanks. God will save me."

      The water rose and rose, and soon nearly covered the whole house. Bhola fell in, and drowned.

         When he arrived in Heaven, he saw God, and asked Him, "Why didn't you save me from that terrible flood? Did I not show you my faith?"

        With a loving but irritated tone God replied, "What more would you have me do? I sent people in two boats and a helicopter."

Everyone has power.The issue becomes what kind of power a person has and how someone uses that power. Here are some of the common types of power found in the workplace.

Coercive power is associated with people who are in a position to punish others. People fear the consequences of not doing what has been asked of them.

Connection power is based upon who you know. This person knows, and has the ear of, other powerful people within the organization.

Expert power comes from a person’s expertise (duh!). This is commonly a person with an acclaimed skill or accomplishment.

A person who has access to valuable or important information possesses informational power.

Legitimate power comes from the position a person holds. This is related to a person’s title and job responsibilities. You might also hear this referred to as positional power.

People who are well-liked and respected can have referent power.

Reward power is based upon a person’s ability to bestow rewards. Those rewards might come in the form of job assignments, schedules, pay or benefits.

             Here is a short and sweet Management Lesson. Just read this interesting story!!!

           A butcher watching over his shop is really surprised when he sees a dog coming inside the shop. He shoos him away. But later, the dog is back again. So, he goes over to the dog and notices' it has a note in its mouth. He takes the note and it reads, "Can I have 12 sausages and a leg of lamb, please."

        The dog has money in its mouth, as well. The butcher looks inside and, low and behold, there is a $10 note there. So he takes the money and puts the sausages and lamb in a bag, placing it in the dog's mouth. The butcher is so impressed, and since it's about closing time, he decides to shut the shop and follow the dog. So off he goes.

        The dog is walking down the street, when it comes to a level crossing the dog puts down the bag, jumps up and presses the button.Then it waits patiently, bag in mouth, for the lights to turn. They do, and it walks across the road, with the butcher following him all the way. The dog then comes to a bus stop, and starts looking at the timetable. The butcher is in awe as the dog stops a bus by pulling its left leg up and gets in it. The butcher follows the dog into the bus.

        The dog then shows a ticket, which is tied to its belt to the bus conductor. The butcher is nearly fainting at this sight, so are the other passengers in the bus.The dog then sits near the driver's seat looking outside waiting for the bus stop to come. As soon as the stop is in sight, the dog stands and wags its tail to inform the conductor.

       Then, without waiting for the bus to stop completely, it jumps out of the bus and runs to a house very close to the stop. It opens the big iron gate and rushes inside towards the door.As it approaches the wooden door, the dog suddenly changes its mind and heads towards the garden. It goes to the window, and beats its head against it several times, walks back, jumps off, and waits at the door.

        The butcher watches as a big guy opens the door, and starts abusing the dog, kicking him and punching him, and swearing at him.

        The butcher surprised with this, runs up, and stops the guy. "What in heaven's name are you doing? The dog is a genius. He could be on TV, for the life of me!" to which the guy responds: "You call this clever? This is the second time this week that this stupid dog's forgotten his key."

Moral of the story...

          You may continue to Exceed onlookers' expectations but shall always fall short of Manipulative, Crooked & Use & Throw bosses' expectations.

Hi,

         I wanted to express my gratitude to share valuable tips and suggestions to get relief from the dangerous drugs i had been taking to get over migraine which were completely ruining physically but also had a very adverse effect.

NOTES ON ALLERGY & MIGRANE SHARED BY HEMANT:

          No one has been able to get grip on Migrane and no Dr can claim "there is cure for Migrane". One has to apply his mind and check what suits him/her. Sometimes, you get amazing results. That is why people suffering from Migrane go to anyone and everyone. Whether it is proven quack, expert, home remedies, tips from friends and so on.

           All sufferers of Migrane and allergy attacks want immediate Peace and some are even willing to die than bear the pain.

          Migrane and allergy attacks can create havoc. It doesnt allow a patient to sleep as the head keeps thumping. It makes one sluggish. Active Sex Life is ruined. Migrane or an allergy attack gives a feeling as if someone is brutally torturing you in a jail.

What one needs to observe is :

1. Avoid eating : Cucumber, brinjals, curd, tamarind, sour items, bhel puris, chaat items with tamarind water, paani puri, sugary sweets, maida based items, deep fried items, drink luke warm water (with tulsi leaves and 2 pcs of clove) - have min. 2 ltrs during the day. Go low on water as evening approaches.

Do regular steam inhalation for couple of minutes. Vacuum clean beds, pillows and car seats every fortnight. When this process is on, one must stay out of the house as inhaling dust can trigger the attack.

No loud music as it can trigger the attack. Do not see negative serials, negative talks and avoid discussing dirty gossips. The brain loves to churn all this once we go to sleep and then the trigger starts.

2. Avoid alcohol of any kind, non-veg & smoke completely (also the smell). No soft drinks, maida buiscuits or maida based rotis or anything, pickles, have brown bread and puffed rice (not white rice).

No Carpets in house and strictly avoid using deos. Avoid unhygenic areas with sharp smell ( that includes dust, paint, house or train/public urinals, restaurants, hotel rooms etc). Maintain excellent Oral hygiene 24 x7.

Strictly wear U/v sunglasses when going out. Do not go out in direct sun. Wear white cap in Summer.

3. Eat freshly cooked food. No cold water and icecreams. Avoid citric fruits. Eat seasonal fruits/salads first and then after 30-45 mins have meals. Have early dinner.

Get ionisers installed or get A.C with ioniser. Close windows in night whenever migrane/allergy is On. You may use A.C at room temperature.

Go low on spice, salt and white sugar. Instead have jaggery based sweets. Develop taste for mixed salads (without salt and masala or v.low idoised salt). Strictly wash vegetables with luke warm water before using them for cooking/salad.

4. Drink green tea without sugar. Eat Five Grain/marrie buiscuits. No chocolates.

5. Go for walk early morning when sound and vehicle pollution is lowest. Avoid daily head bath. Avoid late night bath. Have early morning morning 5 minutes Sun and Air bath (rising Sun and only 5 min to start with).

6. Do Pranayam (Only 3 minutes can give dramatic results) - 2 hours before eating breakfast. Listen to soft Holy Hymns regularly early morning. Smile more genuinely (not the Airhostess plastic and commercial smile). A smile relaxes 64 heart muscles.

7. Do not speak embarassing words or ask embarassing questions. Observe everything but enquire gently and innocently.

8. Avoid speaking too much on cell phones. Switch over to SMS and email communication. Radiation from cell phones can also trigger Migrane.

9. Have good back up for cleaning, washing and sweeping the house. Stay away from all these jobs as cleaning chemicals are very powerful and can also trigger attack.

10. Go to hilly region to spend some time and breathe fresh air. Try homeopathy and Reiki. It will help you to get youthful energy back.

11. Regularly trim unwanted body hair and nails.

Migrane and allergy attacks drain out youthful energy and makes the body hugely old and age faster than you can dream.

Lets see a short story which even happens in our life when we are late in a main conference and we might be in a situation where we have to face certain consequences.

         A Priest was being honoured at his retirement dinner after 25 years in the parish. A leading local politician and member of the congregation was chosen to make the presentation and to give a little speech at the dinner.

   However, he was delayed, so the Priest was asked to say a few words in the meanwhile. Not being prepared to speak then, he wondered for a minute and then decided to share his experience on the first day in the parish to highlight how one should not rush to conclusions.

      'I got my first impression of the parish from the first confession I heard here. I thought I had been assigned to a terrible place. The very first person who entered my confessional told me :

   1. He had stolen a television set and, when questioned by the police, was able to lie his way out of it.
   2. He had stolen money from his parents,
   3. Embezzled from his employer
   4. Had an affair with his boss's wife,
   5. Taken illegal drugs, and gave VD to his neighbour.

     I was appalled said the Priest.

    But as the days went on, I learned that my people were not all like that and I had, indeed, come to a fine Parish full of good and loving people.'....

    Just as the Priest finished his talk, the Politician arrived full of apologies at being late.

    He immediately began to make the presentation and gave his talk: 'I'll never forget the first day our parish Priest arrived,' said the politician.

                  Happy? Elated? Excited? Nervous? Scared stiff?

     Preparing for a teaching interview is a lot like studying for a test. You can review commonly asked questions, think about what you’ll say beforehand, and go in to do your best. If you prepare beforehand, the interview questions will seem routine and familiar. You’ll have answers on the tip of your tongue, ready-to-go.

1. Tell us about yourself.

This will be the first question at almost every interview. Just give a brief background in about three sentences. Tell them what colleges you graduated from, what you’re certified to teach, what your teaching & working experiences are, and why you’d love the job.

2. How do you teach to the state standards?

School administrators love to talk about state, local, or national standards! Reassure your interviewer that everything you do ties into standards. Be sure the lesson plans in your portfolio have the state standards typed right on them. When they ask about them, pull out your lesson and show them the close ties between your teaching and the standards.

3. How will you prepare students for standardized assessments?

There are standardized assessments at almost every grade level. Be sure you know the names of the tests. Talk about your experiences preparing students. You’ll get bonus points if you know and describe the format of the test because that will prove your familiarity.

4. Describe your discipline philosophy.

You use lots of positive reinforcement. You are firm, but you don’t yell. You have appropriate consequences for inappropriate behavior. You have your classroom rules posted clearly on the walls. You set common routines that students follow.
You adhere to the school’s discipline guidelines. Also, emphasize that you suspect discipline problems will be minimal because your lessons are very interesting and engaging to students. 5. How do you communicate with parents?

Hi friends,

       My friend was working at a company for 1 year. It’s a small company with a very emotional owner. She was hired to replace a sales representative who had worked with her for 10 years. They had become close friends, but the manager fired her unexpectedly at the end of 2008 and never talked to her again.

              The ex-employee is now working for another company. The owner of my company used to be good friends with the owners of the company she works for. For some reason, he no longer talks to these people either.

             One of my friend's coworkers and the ex-employee are very good friends. The ex-employee has been invited to attend a trade show where we will be staffing our company’s booth. However, her new employers cannot pay for her hotel costs. My friend's coworker offered to let her stay at our hotel, sharing her room. They have asked me to keep it a secret from my employer.

            They made it clear that my friend can say no to this if she is uncomfortable, but she do feel pressure to say that she will not tell her employer.

          She know that she do not want to stay at this company for long, but it still seems wrong to do this. Unfortunately, it’s a small company and she travel with this one coworker 5 times a year. She do feel disappointed if she don’t go along.

           In general, there’s nothing inherently wrong with offering to let someone stay in your company-paid hotel room.

          There appears to be bad blood between your boss and the former employee, and between your boss and the employee’s new company. Offering your boss’s enemies a resource that your boss paid for to assist them isn’t the smartest move, nor is it ethical. (Enemy may be too strong a word, but the concept stands.) It’s true that allowing her to share the room won’t cost your boss additional money, but it comes across as disloyal — and when you throw secrecy in on top of that, it forms a pretty toxic combination.

You’d be better off doing one of two things:

1. Remove the secrecy and say it’s fine with you as long as the boss knows. If the boss hasn’t shown open hostility to this ex-employee, why not just say, “Hey, she asked if she can room with us at the trade show. Any reason we should say no?”

or

2. Just tell your coworker you’re not comfortable with it. Explain that you wouldn’t feel right keeping a secret from your boss, that you can’t be in that position, and that you hope she understands.

               Many things we might not know what will be the exact reason behind it?? Among this list, i have another question..

          "Why do we not touch papers, books with the feet?"

Here is an short explanation:

           To Indians, knowledge is sacred and divine. So it must be given respect at all times. Nowadays we separate subjects as sacred and secular. But in ancient India every subject – academic or spiritual – was considered divine and taught by the guru in the gurukula.

          The custom of not stepping on educational tools is a frequent reminder of the high position accorded to knowledge in Indian culture. From an early age, this wisdom fosters in us a deep reverence for books and education.

           This is also the reason why we worship books, vehicles and instruments once a year on Saraswathi Pooja or Ayudha Pooja day, dedicated to the Goddess of Learning. In fact, each day before starting our studies, we pray:

                          Saraswati namasthubhyam
                          Varade kaama roopini
                         Vidyaarambham karishyaami
                          Sidhirbhavatu me sadaa

Meaning:

                         O Goddess Saraswati, the giver of

Everyone can take steps to improve their memory, and with time and practice most people can gain the ability to memorize seemingly impossible amounts of information. Scientists believe that exercising your brain can create a ‘cognitive reserve’ that will help you stay sharp as you age.

1. Convince yourself that you do have a good memory that will improve. Too many people get stuck here and convince themselves that their memory is bad, that they are just not good with names, that numbers just slip out of their minds for some reason.

2. Keep your brain active. The brain is not a muscle, but regularly “exercising” the brain actually does keep it growing and spurs the development of new nerve connections that can help improve memory. By developing new mental skills—especially complex ones such as learning a new language or learning to play a new musical instrument—and challenging your brain with puzzles and games you can keep your brain active and improve its physiological functioning.

3. Exercise daily. Regular aerobic exercise improves circulation and efficiency throughout the body, including in the brain, and can help ward off the memory loss that comes with aging. Exercise also makes you more alert and relaxed, and can thereby improve your memory uptake, allowing you to take better mental “pictures.”

4. Reduce stress. Chronic stress, although it does not physically damage the brain, can make remembering much more difficult. Even temporary stresses can make it more difficult to effectively focus on concepts and observe things. Try to relax, regularly practice yoga or other stretching exercises, and see a doctor if you have severe chronic stress.

5. Eat well and eat right. A healthy diet, however, contributes to a healthy brain, and foods containing antioxidants—broccoli, blueberries, spinach, and berries, for example—and Omega-3 fatty acids appear to promote healthy brain functioning. Feed your brain with such supplements as Thiamine, Vitamin E, Niacin and Vitamin B-6. Grazing, eating 5 or 6 small meals throughout the day instead of 3 large meals, also seems to improve mental functioning (including memory) by limiting dips in blood sugar, which may negatively affect the brain.

6. Take better pictures. Often we forget things not because our memory is bad, but rather because our observational skills need work. One common situation where this occurs (and which almost everyone can relate to) is meeting new people. Often we don’t really learn people’s names at first because we aren’t really concentrating on remembering them. You’ll find that if you make a conscious effort to remember such things, you’ll do much better.

7. Give yourself time to form a memory. Memories are very fragile in the short-term, and distractions can make you quickly forget something as simple as a phone number. The key to avoid losing memories before you can even form them is to be able to focus on the thing to be remembered for a while without thinking about other things, so when you’re trying to remember something, avoid distractions and complicated tasks for a few minutes.

8. Group things you need to remember. Random lists of things (a shopping list, for example) can be especially difficult to remember. To make it easier, try categorizing the individual things from the list. If you can remember that, among other things, you wanted to buy four different kinds of vegetables, you’ll find it easier to remember all four.

9. Try meditation. Research now suggests that people who regularly practice “mindfulness” meditation are able to focus better and may have better memories. Mindfulness (also known as awareness or insight meditation) is the type commonly practiced in Western countries and is easy to learn.

10. Sleep well. The amount of sleep we get affects the brain’s ability to recall recently learned information. Getting a good night’s sleep – a minimum of seven hours a night – may improve your short-term memory and long-term relational memory.

              Do you know "Why Do we have Prayer room separately to Worship god"???

                    Most Indian homes have a prayer room or altar. A lamp is lit and the Lord worshipped each day. Other spiritual practices like japa (repetition of the Lord's name), meditation, paaraayana (reading of the scriptures), prayers, and devotional singing etc is also done here.

              The Lord is the entire creation. He is therefore the true owner of the house we live in too. The prayer room is the Master room of the house. We are the earthly occupants of His property. This notion rids us of false pride and possessiveness.

             The ideal attitude to take is to regard the Lord as the true owner of our homes and us as caretakers of His home. But if that is rather difficult, we could at least think of Him as a very welcome guest.

              Also the Lord is all pervading. To remind us that He resides in our homes with us, we have prayer rooms. Without the grace of the Lord, no task can be successfully or easily accomplished. We invoke His grace by communing with Him in the prayer room each day and on special occasions.

             Each room in a house is dedicated to a specific function like the bedroom for resting, the drawing room to receive guests, the kitchen for cooking etc. The furniture, decor and the atmosphere of each room are made conducive to the purpose it serves. So too for the purpose of meditation, worship and prayer, we should have a conducive atmosphere – hence the need for a prayer room.

             Sacred thoughts and sound vibrations pervade the place and influence the minds of those who spend time there. Spiritual thoughts and vibrations accumulated through regular meditation, worship and chanting done there pervade the prayer room. Even when we are tired or agitated, by just sitting in the prayer room for a while, we feel calm, rejuvenated and spiritually uplifted.

              Today let us discuss about "ORAL LANGUAGE SKILLS".. Oral language is not just speaking. It is a large set of skills that encompasses listening comprehension, understanding and producing complex language, vocabulary and word knowledge, grammatical knowledge, phonological skills, and so much more.

A Few Strategies for Building Oral Language Skills:

1) Show and Tell: Students bring an item from home that they want to talk about and there is a precious question and answer session that ensues.

2) Daily Oral Language (D.O.L.): Traditionally, this is an activity where each day, there is a prompt written on the board for students, such as a sentence written with incorrect grammar for students to correct individually. I prefer to have the students create grammatically correct sentences in small groups (like their tables or with a partner). Show the vocabulary word and have students talk about its meaning together in a small group and have them draw a group picture representing that word.

3) Dramatic Vocabulary: The students get in a circle and the teacher has a set of cards with that week’s vocabulary words on them (the students can make these cards in groups before the activity for added learning).

4) Word Wall: I think it is used mostly in elementary and middle school, but I can see its value in secondary classrooms with added elements, such as grouping by prefix, suffix, roots, etc. Basically, it is a wall of words that are frequently used in the classroom that are posted for easy reference. Teachers, feel free to comment on how you elaborate on the classic Word Wall.

5) Debates and “Take A Stand” activities: You can start out by providing a prompt for a related lesson, such as “Every student should wear uniforms to school” for a lesson on persuasive writing. Place a line of masking tape in your classroom that ranges from “strongly agree” to “strongly disagree” with “not sure” in the middle.

Have students “take a stand” on where they fall on the continuum. Then, group the students to form teams for a debate on the issue (“not sure” kids can be equally divided or be their own group). From there, you can provide reading materials for the students to support their argument, or begin a research project for students to find their own material for a debate.

6) Listening Activities: For students, teaching listening skills can be in the form of teaching good note-taking skills during lecture. Give the class a list of key phrases that they want to listen for in a lecture such as, “This is important..”, “One of the main things…” “The first thing you have to do is…, etc”, “You will need to know…” To begin, you could ring a little bell or something when you use the key phrase, then transfer that job to a student.

7) Fancy Tech Stuff: I must admit, there are many many tech applications that frighten me with their newfangledness. However, I really think that we should be harnessing the students’ natural interest in tech and social media.

Maybe kids across the country could Sykpe-talk to each other about an issue/project/modern day pen pal thingy, build a personal word or spelling dictionary in their iPhones/iTouches, find an App for site words (there’s an app for that!), making a classroom Podcast, etc.

Even after accepting that giving is good and that one must learn to give, several questions need to be answered.

                      The first question is when should one give?

We all know the famous incident from Mahabharat.

                 Yudhisthir, asks a beggar seeking alms to come the next day. On this, Bhim rejoices, that Yudhisthir his brother, has conquered death! For he is sure that he will be around tomorrow to give. Yudhisthir gets the message. One does not know really whether one will be there tomorrow to give!The time to give therefore is now.

       The next question is 'how much to give?

                   One recalls the famous incident from history. Rana Pratap was reeling after defeat from the Moghals. He had lost his army, he had lost his wealth, and most important he had lost hope, his will to fight. At that time in his darkest hour, his erstwhile minister Bhamasha came seeking him and placed his entire fortune at the disposal of Rana Pratap. With this, Rana Pratap raised an army and lived to fight another day.

The answer to this question how much to give is "Give as much as you can!

        The next question is what to give?

           It is not only money that can be given. It could be a flower or even a smile. It is not how much one gives but how one gives that really matters. When you give a smile to a stranger that may be the only good thing received by him in days and weeks!

                The experimental devices are designed to keep track of how many minutes they work out, how much food they consume and even whether they are at a fast-food joint when they should be in the park. The goal is to cut down on self-reported answers that often cover up what’s really happening.

                 In a lab in this Los Angeles suburb, two overweight teenagers help test the devices by taking turns sitting, standing, lying down, running on a treadmill and playing Wii. As music thumps in the background, wireless sensors on their chests record their heart rates, stress levels and amount of physical activity. The information is sent to a cell phone.

               The new devices are being designed in labs or created with off-the-shelf parts. Some similar instruments are already on the market, including a model that tracks calories burned by measuring motion, sweat and heat with armbands.But the devices in development aim to be more sophisticated by featuring more precise electronics and sometimes even video cameras. Many emerging systems also strive to provide instant feedback and personalized treatment for wearers.

               University of Pittsburgh engineer Mingui Sun has developed a necklace equipped with a video camera that records where a person goes and what he or she eats. Before a researcher sees the data, it’s filtered by a computer that blurs out other people’s faces.

               The device is not smart enough to know whether the wearer ate a Big Mac or tofu. So a researcher inputs the food, and the computer calculates the portion size, calories and nutrients.
Sun’s lab workers are wearing the prototype, and he hopes to test it on real people by the middle of the year.

SAP India CEO Ranjan Das - Passed Away on Wednesday, 21-Oct-2009

            This is very very important and shocking.I am changing my lifestyle today… are you?

Ranjan Das, CEO and MD of SAP Indian subcontinent died after a massive cardiac arrest in Mumbai on Wednesday. One of the youngest CEOs, he was 42.
 

What killed Ranjan Das and Lessons for Corporate India ?

      A month ago, many of us heard about the sad demise of Ranjan Das from Bandra, Mumbai. Ranjan, just 42 years of age, was the CEO of SAP-Indian Subcontinent, the youngest CEO of an MNC in  India . He was very active in sports, was a fitness freak and a marathon runner. It was common to see him run on Bandra's  Carter Road . Just after Diwali, on 21st Oct, he returned home from his gym after a workout, collapsed with a massive heart attack and died. He is survived by his wife and two very young kids.

The Real Reason:

        However, everyone missed out a small line in the reports that Ranjan used to make do with 4-5 hours of sleep. This is an earlier interview of Ranjan on NDTV in the program 'Boss' Day Out':

Here he himself admits that he would love to get more sleep ( and that he was not proud of his ability to manage without sleep, contrary to what others extolled ).

Some Excerpts: 

· Short sleep duration ( <5 or 5-6 hours ) increased risk for high BP by 350% to 500% compared to those who slept longer than 6 hours per night. Paper published in 2009. As you know, high BP kills. 

· Young people ( 25-49 years of age ) are twice as likely to get high BP if they sleep less. Paper published in 2006. 

· Individuals who slept less than 5 hours a night had a 3-fold increased risk of heart attacks. Paper published in 1999. 

· Sleeping for <=5 hours per night leads to 39% increase in heart disease. Sleeping for <=6 hours per night leads to 18% increase in heart disease. Paper published in 2006. 
 
      No wonder when you wake up with an alarm clock after 5-6 hours of sleep, you are mentally irritable throughout the day (lack of REM sleep). And if you have slept for less than 5 hours, your body is in a complete physical mess ( lack of non-REM sleep ), you are tired throughout the day, moving like a zombie and your immunity is way down.
 
In conclusion:

         Barring stress control, Ranjan Das did everything right: eating proper food, exercising ( marathoning! ), maintaining proper weight. But he missed getting proper and adequate sleep, minimum 7 hours. In my opinion, that killed him.
 If you are not getting enough sleep ( 7 hours ), you are playing with fire, even if you have low stress.
 
      Unfortunately, Ranjan Das is not alone when it comes to missing sleep. Many of us are doing exactly the same, perhaps out of ignorance.

1. Some school districts will pay teachers early this month because school is not in session at the end of the month. Budget your money carefully! You may feel rich right now, but your next payday is a long time away.

2. Continue to teach. Your students will try endless tricks to get you off track during the holiday season—resist.

 PALO ALTO of California illustrates the potential dilemmas of living with robots by telling the story of how he once got stuck in an elevator at Stanford Hospital with a droid the size of a washing machine.

            We’re still far from the sci-fi dream of having robots whirring about and catering to our every need. But little by little, we’ll be sharing more of our space with robots in the next decade, as prices drop and new technology creates specialized machines that clean up spilled milk or even provide comfort for an elderly parent.

                Now scientists and legal scholars are exploring the likely effects. What happens if a robot crushes your foot, chases your cat off a ledge or smacks your baby? While experts don’t expect a band of Terminators to attack or a “2001: A Space Odyssey” computer that takes control, even simpler, benign robots will have legal, social and ethical consequences. “As we rely more and more on automated systems, we have to think of the implications. It is part of being a responsible scientist,” Horvitz said.

         Horvitz assembled a team of scientists this year when he was president of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence and asked them to explore the future of human-robot interactions. A report on their discussions is due next year. For years, robots have been used outside the home. They detect bombs on the battleground, build cars in factories and deliver supplies and visit patients in hospitals.

         But the past few years have seen the rise of home robots. Mainly they are used for tasks like vacuuming (think Roomba). There are also robotic lawn mowers, duct cleaners, surveillance systems and alarm clocks. There are robotic toys for entertainment, such as Furby. Robotic companions, like Paro the harbor seal, comfort the elderly. By 2015, personal robot sales in the U.S. will exceed $5 billion, more than quadrupling what they are now, according to ABI Research, which analyzes technology trends.
        
            As robots interact more closely with people, the bonds some people form with the machines – even ones that do not look like humans – might need to be considered.

2.Creating a New E-Mail Shortcut

To create a shortcut that will open your default e-mail program starting a new e-mail,

Black-Box Testing techniques:

When creating black-box test cases, the input data
used is critical. Three successful techniques for
managing the amount of input data required include:
Equivalence Partitioning.
An equivalence class is a subset of data that is representative
of a larger class.Equivalence partitioning is a technique
for testing equivalence classes rather thanundertaking
exhaustive testing of each value of the larger class.
For example, aprogram which edits credit limits within a
given range (1,000 - 1,500) would have three equivalence classes:
< 1,000 (invalid)
Between 1,000 and 1,500 (valid)
> 1,500 (invalid)

Boundary Analysis:
A technique that consists of developing test cases and
data that focus on the input and output boundaries of a
given function. In same credit limit example, boundary
analysis would test:
Low boundary +/- one (999 and 1,001)
On the boundary (1,000 and 1,500)
Upper boundary +/- one (1,499 and 1,501)

Error Guessing:
Test cases can be developed based upon the intuition
and experience of the tester. For example, in an example
where one of the inputs is the date, a tester may try
February 29, 2000.. It is not possible..

White-Box Testing techniques:

White-box testing assumes that the path of logic in a unit
or program is known. White-box testing consists of
testing paths, branch by branch, to produce predictable results.
The following are white-box testing techniques:
Statement Coverage:
Execute all statements at least once.
Decision Coverage:
Execute each decision direction at least once.
Condition Coverage:
Execute each decision with all possible outcomes at least once.
Decision/Condition Coverage:
Execute all possible combinations of condition outcomes
in each decision. Treat all iterations as two-way conditions
exercising the loop zero times and one time.

iPhone worth 1.92m pounds made from nearly 200 diamonds

          Here is an interesting news about Mobile Phone..A designer has come up with the world's most expensive mobile phone, which is priced at 1.92 million pounds.

           Stuart Hughes, from Liverpool has designed the iPhone 3GS Supreme that has almost 200 diamonds incised on it. The casing is embellished with 22-carat solid gold, while the front bezel is adorned with 136 diamonds.

          The Apple logo is made from 53 of the same jewels and the front button has a diamond of more than seven carats.

           The iPhone is offered in a chest made of granite and Kashmir gold and lined with nubuck leather, reports Times Online.

A Story on Theft...

Read this story and be careful of this incidents!

             After shopping in a mall, when a couple returned, they found that their car had been stolen. They went to the police station to lodge a report. A detective then drove them back to the parking lot to see if any evidence could be found at the scene of the crime. To their amazement, the car had been returned. There was an envelope on the windshield with a note of apology and two tickets to a music concert.

          The note read, "I apologize for taking your car, but my wife was having a baby and I had to hot-wire your ignition to rush her to the hospital. Please forgive the inconvenience. Here are two tickets for tonight's concert of Garth Brooks, the country-and-western music star."

        Their faith in humanity restored, the couple attended the concert and returned home late and found their house had been robbed. Valuable goods had been taken from throughout the house, from basement to attic. And, there was a note on the door reading, "Well, at least you still have your car. I have to put my kid through college somehow, don't I?"

Aiyerisation of the World - An Interesting Read!

             Here is a Very interesting piece written by Swaminathan S Anklesaria Aiyer (Veteran Journalist) about Globalization. Here it goes:))

                      In 1992, I wrote a book titled Towards Globalisation. I did not realize at the time that this was going to be the history of my family.

                        Last week, we celebrated the wedding of my daughter, Pallavi. A brilliant student, she had won scholarships to Oxford University and the London School of Economics. In London, she met Julio, a young man from Spain. The two decided to take up jobs in Beijing, China. Last week, they came over from Beijing to Delhi to get married. The wedding guests included 70 friends from North America, Europe and China.

                       That may sound totally global, but arguably my elder son Shekhar has gone further. He too won a scholarship to Oxford University, and then taught for a year at a school in Colombo. Next he went to Toronto, Canada, for higher studies. There he met a German girl, Franziska.

                       They both got jobs with the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC, USA. This meant that they constantly travelled on IMF business to disparate countries. Shekhar advised and went on missions to Sierra Leone, Seychelles, Kyrgyzstan and Laos. Franziska went to Rwanda, Tajikistan, and Russia. They interrupted these perambulations to get married in late 2003.

                      My younger son, Rustam, is only 15. Presumably he will study in Australia, marry a Nigerian girl, and settle in Peru.Readers might think that my family was born and bred in a jet plane. The truth is more prosaic. Our ancestral home is Kargudi, a humble, obscure village in Tanjore district, Tamil Nadu. My earliest memories of it are as a house with no toilets, running water, or pukka road.

                       When we visited, we disembarked from the train at Tanjore, and then travelled 45 minutes by bullock cart to reach the ancestral home. My father was one of six children, all of whom produced many children (Imyself had three siblings). So, two generations later, the size of the Kargudi extended family (including spouses) is over 200. Of these, only three still live in the village. The rest have moved across India and across the whole world, from China to Arabia to Europe to America.

                 This one Kargudi house has already produced 50 American citizens. So, dismiss the mutterings of those who claim that globalisation means westernisation. It looks more like Aiyarisation, viewed from Kargudi.

                  What does this imply for our sense of identity? I cannot speak for the whole Kargudi clan, which ranges from rigid Tamil Brahmins to beef-eating, pizza-guzzling, hip-hop dancers. But for me, the Aiyarisation of the world does not mean Aiyar domination. Nor does it mean Aiyar submergence in a global sea. It means acquiring multiple identities, and moving closer to the ideal of a brotherhood of all humanity. I remain quite at home sitting on the floor of the Kargudi house on a mat of reeds, eating from a banana leaf with my hands. I feel just as much at home eating noodles in China, steak in Spain, teriyaki in Japan and cous-cous in Morocco. I am a Kargudi villager, a Tamilian, a Delhi-wallah, an Indian, a Washington Redskins fan, and a citizen of the world, all at the same time and with no sense of tension or contradiction.

                  When I see the Brihadeeswara Temple in Tanjore, my heart swells and I say to myself "This is mine." I feel exactly the same way when I see the Church of Bom Jesus in Goa, or the Jewish synagogue in Cochin, or the Siddi Sayed mosque in Ahmedabad: these too are mine. I have strolled so often through the Parks at Oxford University and along the canal in Washington, DC, that they feel part of me. As my family multiplies and intermarries, I hope one day to look at the Sagrada Familia cathedral in Barcelona and Rhine river in Germany and think, "These too are mine."

                  We Aiyars have a taken a step toward the vision of John Lennon. Imagine there's no country, It isn't hard to do. Nothing to kill or die for, And no religion too .My father's generation was the first to leave the village, and loosen its regional shackles. My father became a chartered accountant in Lahore, an uncle became a hotel manager in Karachi, and we had an aunt in Rangoon.

                  My generation loosened the shackles of religion. My elder brother married a Sikh, my younger brother married a Christian, and I married a Parsi. The next generation has gone a step further, marrying across the globe.

                  Globalisation for me is not just the movement of goods and capital, or even of Aiyars. It is a step towards Lennon's vision of no country.

You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope one day you'll join us. And the world will be one.........
